The latest Batik Dragon Jackets are blowing my mind! When I boiled off the wax I wasn't expecting the intensity of color and detail but it was off the charts! The white denim jacket that I dipped only in black has a misty white dragon exactly as I imagined. The pink dragons are as intensely pink fuchsia as is possible with a rich black cherry background, then we have the one Frida Kahlo jacket - it's amazing! I love these jackets so much I want to just keep them all!!
I would love to make some dragon art on stretched cloth for the walls. I could do a whole series of dragons and then hustle them into cafe shows in Ballard or Capitol Hill. I could also do some portraits mixed in there like Frida Kahlo, or High Priestess of the Tarot of the Pomegranate, and Queen of Wands, Queen of Cups, The Magician.
I think I'm going to focus on just making some art. Also with Bootyland shutting its brick and mortor shop I have put back on my on-line shop the items that were on the racks at Bootyland, so I have enough clothing on my shop.
Batik Art is more affordable and quicker to create than oil painting, but what is different is that you cannot copy or ever get the same effect with Batik. It's out of your control unlike oil painting which is very much easy to control. I love these two parallel opposite art forms so much. I've spent decades learning to master oil painting and only about five years trying to master Batik, but I say with confidence this last batch was an artistic breakthrough, not just technically but personally - this type of imagery is what gives me joy. Also with the custom cloth I made for the fashion house, I especially loved the skull heads those turned out too good. I think making a bunch of big skull patches to sew onto the backs of jackets would be a good idea too.
So many ideas and so little time - Art is long and time is short
